Degrees and Certifications:
Mr. Joel Ruby
I hope you find this site to be a useful tool to peruse all musical-related items, and stay up-to-date on all events happening throughout the year. Be sure to check back from time to time in the event of changes and added events. I look forward to being a partner and ally in the students' education, and with you, the parents. Let's celebrate another year completed, and anticipate the new!
I grew up in Central Minnesota with a large family - eight kids total! Although it could be assumed I subscribe to the following - Catholic, homeschooled, Mormon - none of these labels have fit thus far. My life has been grounded in strong family values, and my father remains an important role model to me. My mother is, perhaps, the best musician I know, and attribute my success as a musician to her rearing. I sang and played horn and piano throughout high school and college.
My music education is spread between two institutions: Wheaton College - Conservatory of Music and University of Jamestown, and I uphold them both respectably. Through and through, I have learned many life lessons and skills, but I always come back to the idea that music is a gift. Not only so, but a rare and beautiful one at that. It is my goal to impart that knowledge through any necessary means. If you ever get the chance, I would love to hear about what music means to you, for it has been an incredibly formative force in my life.
If there is anything I would like you to know now, it is that I am approachable, available, and am willing to listen. I have a strong sense of determination to make things work, and will prove myself to be a loyal ally in music, education, and in life.
Blessings on you,
